3.4.5 Force indicating device. A force indicating
device shall be
provided to indicate tons of ram force. The indicating device may read in
tons of ram force or pounds per square inch (psi). When-the indicating device
is calibrated in psi, a plate converting psi to tons of ram force shall be
provided. The plate shall conform to 3.14.
3.4.6 Electrical requirements. The press shall be wired to conform to
NFPA 79. Each machine shall be wired to draw all of its electrical power from
a single circuit. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the press shall be
designed to operate on 3-phase, 60-Hertz (Hz), 230/460-volts. Conversion from
one voltage to the other shall be accomplished by the reconnection of
existing components. The press shall be initially wired as specified (see
6.2) .
3.4.6.1 Motors. Motors shall be rated for continuous duty and shall have
ball or roller bearings of the sealed and permanently lubricated type. Unless
otherwise specified (see 6.2), each motor shall have a dripproof enclosure.
The motors shall conform to NEMA MG1 standards.
3.5 Controls. All controls shall be enclosed in an enclosure conforming
to NEMA
ICS 6, type 12. The controls shall provide for control of all
components and functions of the press. All controls and indicating devices
shall be mounted and located within sight and reach of the operator at the
normal operating station. Each control and indicator shall be clearly and
legibly marked for function and identification.
3.5.1 Programmable controller. When specified (see 6.2), the press shall

3.7 Hour meter. When specified (see 6.2), the press shall be equipped
with an hour meter, The hour meter shall be installed to display accumulated
operating time of the main drive motor. The meter shall be of
the
nonresetting type and shall have a range of 0 to 9,999 hours in increments of
not greater than 1 hour. The meter shall be sealed to prevent the entrance of
dust-and moisture and shall be mounted to withstand shock and vibration
generated by the press.
3.8 Size and capacity. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the size
and capacity of the press shall meet the requirements of tables I and II for
the type and size machine specified.
3.8.1 Physical size limitations. When specified (see 6.2), physical size
of the machine shall be limited to the height, width, and length restrictions
specified by the procuring activity to ensure the machine will fit in its
