MIL-P-80114D
3.3.7 Electromagnetic interference control. When specified (see 6.2),
his specification shall comply with MIL-STD-461.
equipment furnished under
The equipment and subsystems class and the emission and susceptibility
requirements shall be as specified.
3.4 Components. The press shall consist basically of the following
components.
Any additional components necessary for the operation of the
machine shall be furnished in accordance with the manufacturer's standard
practice.
3.4.1 Frame. The frame shall be of cast iron, cast steel, or a
fabricated steel weldment. The frame shall be of the mass, weight, and
rigidity to withstand stresses produced when operating the press at its
maximum rated capacity. The frame shall be of the "C" type configuration with
the strength and rigidity necessary to meet performance and alignment
tolerances required herein. The bed surface area (bolster mounting surface)
shall be flat within 0.002 inch per foot. The frame shall be provided with
lifting eyes arranged with the vertical center of gravity for safe lifting and
installing of the press. The lifting eyes shall provide a stable and balanced
lift with a load safety factor or at least five times the total weight of the
press. The base of the frame shall have means for securing the press to a
foundation or table.
3.4.2 Bolster late. A means shall be provided for securing the bolster
plate to the press bed.
Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the press bed
shall have holes or T-slots conforming to ANSI B5.1 for attaching the lower
die or die shoe.
3.4.3 Ram. The ram shall be mounted on the press frame in a position
that is perpendicular to the table surface within 0.005 inch per foot of ram
travel. A guide shall be provided to minimize deflection of the ram during
operation.
3.4.3.1 Upper tool holder. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the
press shall be provided with an upper tool holder. The tool holder shall be
attached to the ram. The tool holder shall be furnished with holes or
T-slots for mounting tooling or die plates. The holes or T-slots shall be in
accordance with ANSI B5.1.
The hydraulic system shall conform to or exceed
The hydraulic system shall be complete
including pumps, valves, piping, hydraulic cylinders, and controls. Overload
pressure protection shall be provided.
A filter system shall be provided to
ensure delivery of clean fluid. The hydraulic reservoir shall have a means
for determining fluid level, provisions for draining, and a cleanout access
plate. A means shall be provided to minimize shock loads caused by
breakthrough.
3.4.4.1 Hydraulic cylinder. The cylinder shall be provided with a means
to prevent the piston from stroking beyond its design limit. The cylinder
piston shall remain perpendicular to the bolster surface to within 0.005 inch
per foot at any point in the piston stroke. A means shall be provided on the
piston end for attaching the upper tool holder. The cylinder piston shall be
provided with a means to prevent rotation.
