3.2 Frame. The frame shall be fabricated of structural steel sections,
consisting of a headrail, worktable, siderails, upper and lower spacer bars,
and steel plates attached to each siderail. The steel plates shall be provided
with tracks for mounting and supporting the roll out worktable. The steel
plates shall extend beyond the press frame at a distance which will allow ease
of loading and unloading of workplaces by overhead crane or other means. Stops
shall be provided to prevent the roll out worktable from rolling off the
tracks. All components shall be fastened together by bolts or by welding,
or a combination of bolting and welding. Regardless of the method used, the
press shall maintain the strength to withstand not less than 1-1/2 times the
maximum rated tonnage capacity of the press. The headrail shall support the
hydraulic cylinder and ram assembly. The headrail and all other crossmembers
shall provide the strength to maintain parallelism of the side members. The
ram axis shall be perpendicular to the worktable within an accuracy of 0.120
inch per foot.
3.3 Siderails, headrail, and support pins. The siderails shall have a
series of equally spaced holes. The headrail shall have matching holes to the
siderails.
Not less than two steel pins shall be provided for supporting the
headrail. The pins shall be shaped for easy insertion and removal from the
holes. The shear strength of the pins shall be not less than 1-1/2 times the
tonnage rating of the press. The pin hole spacing in all members shall have
the accuracy to ensure that all pins support equal loads when pressing force
is centered between the headrail and the worktable. A winch type or a screw
type lifting device for raising and lowering the headrail shall be provided.
3.4 Roll out worktable. The roll out worktable shall be provided with
roller bearings mounted on the four corners of the table for ease of movement
when loading and unloading workplaces. Unless otherwise specified (see 7.1),
worktables on presses rated at 100 tons and over shall have a horizontal
adjustment from not less than 4 inches to 27 inches.
The hydraulic system shall conform to or exceed the
3.5 Hydraulic system.
requirements of National Fluid Power Association (NFPA/JIC) T2.24 .1. The
hydraulic system shall be capable of exerting 100 percent of the rated tonnage
of the press.
3.5.1 Cylinder and ram assembly.
Unless otherwise specified (see 7.1),
the press shall be furnished with a moveable type cylinder and ram assembly.
The moveable assembly shall have a means of being clamped or locked at any
position within its range of travel. When specified (see 7.1), a fixed type
assembly shall be furnished. Provisions to prevent extension of the ram beyond
its normal "end-of-stroke" position shall be provided.
The hydraulic pump shall be electric motor driven.
3.5.2 Hydraulic pump
The pumps shall be the manufacturer's standard pump offered to the commercial
market.
